Job Title: Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA)
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Schedule: 7:00PM – 7:00AM x 3
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $125 – $134/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA) for a locum tenens assignment in Boston, Massachusetts. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA):
• Work 2-3 shifts per week with 12-hour shifts (6:30pm-7:00am), Monday through Sunday
• Provide inpatient floor coverage for post-operative Step-down, OR, and ICU patients within a Thoracic Surgery specialty
• Manage a patient census of 15-25 patients per shift (25 maximum) as a solo PA locum
• Perform chest tube, Blake drain, and pigtail management
• Demonstrate experience with ABG, NGT, G-tube, and J-tube feeding tube management
• Serve as first responder in emergent situations until the fellow or code team arrives
• Perform history and physicals (H&P) for patients transferred from outside hospitals
• Collaborate with and utilize the overnight fellow as a resource during high-volume periods
• Maintain and apply current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Utilize Epic as the EMR/charting system for all documentation
• Maintain active NCCPA board certification
• Maintain active DEA registration
• Meet minimum of 1 year of relevant experience requirement
• Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
