Job Title: MED SURG PEDS
Location: Bethel, Alaska
Schedule: 7:00AM – 7:00PM x 3
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $65 – $70/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a MED SURG PEDS for a temporary assignment in Bethel, Alaska. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a MED SURG PEDS:
• Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Direct and coordinate nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care to achieve the best possible patient outcomes
• Serve as a resource person when the situation requires
• Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care
• Provide care for all patients from birth to elderly, including post-surgical and behavioral health patients
• Conduct initial assessments and re-assessments every 24 hours
• Maintain current BLS certification
• Complete and maintain competencies required for the position, including Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training
• Utilize office and medical equipment appropriate for the position
• Practice nursing in accordance with Alaska State regulations regarding Registered Nursing
• Manage care across the continuum of care using cognitive and technical knowledge
• Administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide patient/family/significant other education
• Manage behavioral health patients using therapeutic communication techniques
• Apply knowledge of medical terminology in patient care settings
• Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
• Document all actions involved in care delivery and follow established guidelines and procedures
• Apply mathematical skills including computing rates, ratios, and percentages, and inputting computer information
• Solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Supervise unit secretaries and PCTs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse
• Demonstrate flexibility with work schedule and ability to perform independent actions within prescribed limits
• Provide proof of completed COVID vaccinations
