Job Title: Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA)
Location: Sacramento, California
Schedule: 7:00AM – 5:00PM x 3
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $173 – $187/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA) for a temporary assignment in Sacramento, California. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA):
• Provide cardiac surgery physician assistant support within the hospital setting
• Work variable 10-hour day shifts (0630-1700) including call, weekends, and holidays
• Serve as a first assist in the Cardiac Surgery operating room
• Demonstrate expert proficiency in endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) and radial artery harvesting
• Perform cardiac first assist duties alongside APPs, residents, and surgeons
• Provide primarily OR support with variable adult patient population
• Maintain Board Certification as a PA or RNFA
• Maintain valid state PA or RNFA licensure and active DEA registration
• Utilize Epic EMR system for clinical documentation
• Demonstrate expert-level experience in cardiac surgery OR assistance
• Comply with COVID-19 vaccine requirements (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Complete credentialing requirements within the designated two-month credentialing timeframe
• Provide coverage at approximately 75% to full-time capacity per month
