Job Title: Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA)
Location: Springfield, Oregon
Schedule: 7:30AM – 5:30PM x 5
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $1028 – $1107/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA) for a locum tenens assignment in Springfield, Oregon. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA):
• Provide gap coverage as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Vascular Surgery
• Work 10-hour call shifts (0700-1700 or 1700-0700, beeper) Monday-Friday and/or 24-hour call shifts (0700-0700) Monday-Friday or 24-hour weekend call
• Report at the beginning of shift for 0700 start times to complete handoff, rounding, and related tasks
• Perform both inpatient and outpatient clinical duties across a 36-bed unit
• Complete a minimum of 6 call shifts per month
• Conduct rounding and admissions as required
• Manage an average patient census of 15-20 patients per day with a vascular/endovascular patient population
• First assist in the OR and assist with in-clinic procedures
• Work collaboratively with an attending MD/DO; will not work solo
• Maintain clinic hours of 0800-1630 as applicable
• Utilize Epic EMR for clinical documentation
• Maintain current BLS and ACLS certifications (must be from American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• Provide documentation of clinical services representative of the scope and complexity of privileges requested within the previous 24 months
• Provide a case log of surgical cases for the last 24 months, including documentation by the supervising surgeon noting whether assistance was as first, second, or third assist
• Provide specific documentation of training and competency for the NP privilege of First Assist in Surgery, including type and number of procedures performed in the last two years
• Comply with COVID-19 vaccine requirement (no exemptions)
• Adhere to all applicable facility policies, procedures, and credentialing requirements
