Job Title: Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA)
Location: Springfield, Oregon
Schedule: 7:30AM – 5:30PM x 5
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $1028 – $1107/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA) for a locum tenens assignment in Springfield, Oregon. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA):
• Provide vascular/endovascular patient care services as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in both inpatient and outpatient settings
• Work 10-hour call shifts (0700-1700 or 1700-0700) Monday-Friday and/or 24-hour call shifts (0700-0700) Monday-Friday or weekends
• Report at the beginning of shift for 0700 start times to perform handoff, rounding, and related duties
• Conduct clinic hours from 0800-1630 as scheduled
• Perform rounding and admissions for inpatient care on a 36-bed unit
• Manage an average of 15-20 patients per day
• Serve as first assist in the OR and assist with in-clinic procedures
• Work collaboratively with an attending MD/DO; will not work solo
• Fulfill a minimum of 6 call shifts per month, including night shift coverage as needed
• Provide documentation of clinical services representative of the scope and complexity of privileges requested within the previous 24 months
• Submit a case log of surgical cases for the last 24 months, including documentation from the supervising surgeon indicating first, second, or third assist role
• Provide specific documentation of training and competency for the NP privilege of First Assist in Surgery, including type and number of procedures performed in the last two years
• Maintain current BLS and ACLS certifications (from American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• Utilize Epic EMR system for all clinical documentation
• Comply with flu vaccine requirement (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Adhere to all applicable facility policies, procedures, and credentialing requirements
