Job Title: Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
Location: San Francisco, California
Schedule: 5:00AM – 1:30PM x 5
Term: 26-week assignment with the potential for extension.
Pay Rate: $228 – $245/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for a temporary assignment in San Francisco, California. These positions are 26-week locum tenens contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist:
• Cover 2 weekends per month and the following Monday and Tuesday
• Work Monday and Tuesday shifts from 8am to 5pm on site, followed by night call until 8am the following day
• Perform approximately 6 hours of weekend rounding starting at 8am, then remain on call until 8am the following day
• Place admission orders for incoming patients during night call shifts
• Manage a daily patient census of 6 to 12 patients
• Hold Board Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP), or at minimum Board Certification in General Psychiatry with a completed CAP fellowship
• Apply strong foundation in psychiatric principles, diagnoses, and treatment modalities including psychopharmacology and various psychotherapies
• Administer and manage psychiatric medications in children and adolescent patients
• Apply foundational knowledge of adolescent development and family systems
• Develop comprehensive and individualized treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and parents/guardians
• Manage challenging behaviors in adolescent patients utilizing therapeutic interventions and de-escalation techniques
• Lead the multidisciplinary team, oversee patient care, and provide guidance and supervision to other healthcare professionals
• Demonstrate effective communication skills to develop rapport with patients, families, and team members
• Adapt clinical approach to meet the diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and familial needs of the patient population
• Work collaboratively and effectively with other professionals in a therapeutic environment
• Apply knowledge of legal frameworks, educational provisions, and safeguarding protocols relevant to adolescent patients
• Maintain current BLS certification (AHA required)
• Hold a valid CA DEA license with Schedule 2/2n
• Maintain current COVID-19 vaccination and booster (medical/religious exemptions only)
