Job Title: MED-SURG/ONCOLOGY
Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM x 5
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $62 – $67/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a MED-SURG/ONCOLOGY for a temporary assignment in Hilo, Hawaii. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a MED-SURG/ONCOLOGY:
• Independently administer a variety of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and injections (chemo, hormonal, and non-chemo/hormonal) in accordance with provider orders
• Access port-a-caths, PICCs, and Hickman catheters
• Perform venipuncture, PICC and Hickman dressings, and lab draws via ports, PICCs, and Hickman catheters
• Provide appropriate clinical care for all assigned patients
• Maintain accurate, concise, and complete records of patient condition, treatment, medications, and responses to treatment
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of all intravenous therapies and patient responses to treatment
• Notify the Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner of unusual occurrences and initiate appropriate emergency action when necessary
• Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding medications and treatments, expected responses and side effects, disease process, nutrition, activity, and physical adjustments related to the disease process or treatment
• Verify informed consent prior to administering chemotherapy
• Demonstrate knowledge of proper handling, administration, and disposal of hazardous drugs and proper usage of PPE
• Maintain a safe environment and comply with policies and procedures
• Maintain proficiency in Epic EMR
• Perform other related duties as assigned
