Job Title: MED-SURG
Location: Nashua, New Hampshire
Schedule: 7:00AM – 7:00PM x 3
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $62 – $67/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a MED-SURG for a temporary assignment in Nashua, New Hampshire. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a MED-SURG:
• Render professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit and carry out orders placed by the provider responsible for the patient’s medical care
• Provide comprehensive clinical documentation including care plans each shift
• Communicate patient information to ensure continuity and safe care through Bedside Shift Report, Multidisciplinary Rounds, and Hourly Rounding (AIDET)
• Seek feedback regarding practice and take actions as appropriate
• Achieve unit-specific competencies and requirements
• Complete all net learning modules within identified timeframes
• Help promote a culture of well-being, including decreasing alarm fatigue
• Promote a positive culture and atmosphere within the department each shift
• Provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by following established procedures and protocols
• Identify and assist in the correction of patient care safety issues
• Work within guidelines of Just Culture Environment to promote error reporting and adoption of safe practices
• Ensure issues are addressed through appropriate use of the chain of command
• Participate in daily unit-based safety huddles
• Remain up to date with unit-based nurse-sensitive indicators such as CAUTI, CLABSI, CDIFF, HAPU, Falls, Hand Hygiene, and VAE
• Actively participate in quality initiatives and performance improvement to improve patient outcomes
• Collaborate with nurses in other departments and units to draw upon expertise in other clinical areas and specialties
• Seek opportunities to assist all team members
• Develop and implement performance goals based on self-assessment and performance feedback
• Ensure patient education materials are culturally competent
• Serve as preceptor for new nurses
• Participate in DNV survey readiness
• Demonstrate practice consistent with the tenets of shared governance and the philosophy of the unit and organization
• Assist with solution identification in response to problems and conflicts
• Effectively delegate aspects of care and unit activities to other nursing personnel
• Collaborate in planning, supervising, and instructing other nurses and assistants
• Work collaboratively with nursing students and instructors
• Participate in the peer feedback process of annual reviews
• Participate in the employee engagement survey
• Avoid use of unauthorized overtime and manage use of Earned Time Off (ETO) per policy
• Complete dysrhythmia course prior to completion of orientation (required for all telemetry-based departments)
• Maintain current nursing licensure and certifications required for the department
• Maintain current New Hampshire RN license
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Obtain Basic Dysrhythmia certification prior to completion of orientation
• Obtain Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training prior to completion of orientation
