Job Title: L&D
Location: Salida, Colorado
Schedule: 7:00PM – 7:00AM x 3
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $81 – $88/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a L&D for a temporary assignment in Salida, Colorado. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a L&D:
• Independently assess and evaluate the health status of both labor and neonate patients utilizing objective and subjective data and identifying health care problems
• Collaborate with patients, family, providers, and others on the healthcare team to establish realistic and measurable short and long term goals
• Prioritize patient needs through planning and implementation of all interventions to include patient education and counseling
• Maintain safe and effective care throughout the episode of care through standard procedures that stabilize each patient’s condition or prevent serious complications in emergency situations
• Evaluate and document each intervention to determine the outcome of care and if additional interventions are required to achieve optimal health outcomes
• Act as a patient advocate
• Directly provide patient care and monitor the patient’s response to labor, delivery, and postpartum phases of pregnancy
• Assist and educate patients in breastfeeding as needed
• Promote wellness for mother during pregnancy and after delivery through continuous education
• Provide education to mother about infant care
• Document all events and education in the patient medical record utilizing computers
• Communicate patient’s condition verbally and in writing to the physician and nursing supervisor
• Assist other Family Birthing Center staff in maintaining skills and learning new procedures and equipment
• Collaborate with nursery nurse in care of mother/baby couplet
• Assist physicians with procedures
• Assist staff with emergencies in other nursing units when possible
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for all patients in the Family Birthing Center unit
• Maintain current, active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado
• Maintain current BLS and NRP certifications
• Minimum of two years of experience required
• Minimum of an Associate’s Degree (ADN) from an accredited nursing program required
