Job Title: MED-SURG
Location: Carbondale, Illinois
Schedule: 7:00PM – 7:00AM x 4
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $55 – $60/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a MED-SURG for a temporary assignment in Carbondale, Illinois. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a MED-SURG:
• Provide nursing care on a 25-bed Medical unit with a patient ratio of 5:1 on days and 5-6:1 on nights
• Care for a wide variety of patients including stroke patients who do not require TPA, comfort care, and hospice patients
• Manage post-operative patients including those with amputations, drains, chest tubes, and feeding tubes
• Administer and monitor heparin drips
• Perform wound care for assigned patients
• Care for patients with altered mental status and CIWA protocols
• Manage patients with AKI, dialysis needs, and COPD exacerbations
• Complete three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend and every other holiday
• Perform and document NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments as required
• Maintain current Illinois Registered Nurse license
• Maintain current CPR/BLS certification
• Maintain current ACLS certification
• Obtain and maintain Stroke Certification as required for the unit
