Job Title: Lab Tech
Location: Brewster, Washington
Schedule: 7:00AM – 5:00PM x 4
Term: 15-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $46 – $49/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Lab Tech for a temporary assignment in Brewster, Washington. These positions are 15-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Lab Tech:
• Perform various technical, clerical, and information systems related procedures in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, specimen procurement, and other laboratory areas
• Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of results and interpret laboratory results with considerable judgment across all areas including hematology, chemistry, special chemistry, serology, blood bank, microbiology, and urinalysis
• Enter data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into computer for storage
• Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment; operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Organize work and manage use of time to complete technical tasks within realistic time limits
• Control laboratory equipment and adjust instruments to perform laboratory procedures
• Use computers to operate laboratory instruments and calculate, record, evaluate, and transmit data
• Establish and monitor quality assurance programs and activities to ensure accuracy of laboratory results
• Monitor quality control procedures and maintain involvement in Laboratory Quality Improvement program
• Collect and study blood samples to determine number of cells, their morphology, or blood group, blood type, and compatibility for transfusion purposes using microscopic techniques
• Analyze samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction
• Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids including blood, urine, and spinal fluid to determine presence of normal and abnormal components
• Help identify abnormalities in samples such as malignancies, bacteria, parasites, or genetic abnormalities
• Assist in blood-typing or other routine blood tests as needed
• Provide technical information about test results to physicians, family members, and researchers
• Maintain instrument and lab section as assigned, including scheduled maintenance and monitoring consumables
• Perform specimen collection on patients of all age groups including venipuncture, capillary draws, culturing sites, and instructing nursing staff on correct method of sample collection
• Maintain active Phlebotomist License and active Washington State MA-P License
• Perform other duties as assigned
