Job Title: Nurse Educator
Location: Juneau, Alaska
Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM x 5
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $98 – $105/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Nurse Educator for a temporary assignment in Juneau, Alaska. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Nurse Educator:
• Maintain and develop an ongoing, consortium-wide clinical education program for clinical staff to meet regulatory requirements, certifications, and competencies
• Design, teach, and evaluate training programs for both professional and non-professional staff
• Act as an internal training and organizational development consultant
• Provide career development resources to staff
• Plan, implement, coordinate, and administer clinical specialty training programs, including human patient simulator training
• Research and maintain current regulations and standards relevant to clinical practice areas
• Ensure educational activities are congruent with mission, goals, values, priorities, and resources
• Coordinate regulatory requirements for certifications including BLS, PALS, ACLS, and TNCC
• Maintain effective working relations with colleagues at all levels and from all professions within the consortium
• Partner with site and department managers to identify clinical education needs and best practices
• Lead clinical education team to develop and coordinate planned educational programs and opportunities for all nursing staff
• Develop clinical competencies in defined areas of specialty in partnership with site managers and performance improvement teams
• Lead development and completion of audits related to clinical education and develop action plans based on recommendations
• Provide coordination and training resources for ACLS, PALS, BLS, NRP, Coast Guard Medivac, and other programs
• Coordinate classes provided by outside contract instructors or companies as requested
• Oversee the IHS Emergency Pediatric Hybrid program for the consortium
• Provide ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of educational activities
• Collaborate with others in the practice of nursing professional development at institutional, local, regional, and state levels
• Facilitate communication with other healthcare providers related to continuing education opportunities and coordination of services
• Participate in and use evidence-based research to identify strategies for improving professional development activities, nursing practice, and patient outcomes
• Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning, delivering, and managing nursing professional development activities
• Oversee the trauma registrar program and work with trauma registrars to maintain each facility’s trauma registry
• Work with each trauma coordinator to meet state requirements and maintain trauma designation
• Assist outlying clinics in achieving and maintaining trauma designations
• Work with finance on trauma billing throughout the consortium
• Assist in trauma education for each trauma designation facility
• Attend and participate in at least 50% of Nurse Executive Committee meetings
• Participate in nursing service goal setting
• Maintain certifications and licensure, including completing annual competencies and evaluation materials
• Support Clinical Educators in the development and implementation of their programs
• Supervise the trauma registrar program throughout the consortium at trauma designation sites
• Coordinate schedules of instructors for classes such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and TNCC throughout the consortium
• Supervise the IHS Emergency Pediatric Hybrid Program and assist outlying clinics in rotating staff through the simulation lab
• Address employee concerns consistent with Human Resources Policy
• Refer unresolved problems to the Chief Nursing Officer for resolution
• Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs as required by physical job demands
