Job Title: Oncologist
Location: Chambersburg, Pennsylvania
Schedule: 10:00PM – 6:30AM x 5
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension.
Pay Rate: $416 – $448/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Oncologist for a temporary assignment in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. These positions are 13-week locum tenens contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Oncologist:
• Provide outpatient clinic coverage Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Support inpatient and emergency department consultations and patient care guidance related to Hematology/Oncology before and/or after clinic hours
• Manage a clinic schedule averaging 15 patients per day, including approximately 2 new patients daily along with treatment and follow-up patients
• Conduct 20-minute appointments for pre-treatment patients and established follow-up visits
• Conduct 40-minute appointments for new hematology consults and hospital follow-up visits
• Conduct 60-minute appointments for new oncology consults
• Serve as supervising provider for a morning and afternoon session each week, covering urgent patient needs for providers not in the office
• Respond to secure chat communications from the hospital during clinic hours as needed
• Provide inpatient rounding support, typically 1 to 2 hours per occurrence
• Participate in call rotation covering approximately 1 week per month, including weekend and night call at both hospital locations
• Handle an average of 0 to 2 calls per day consisting of routine ED or hospital consults
• Manage oncology and hematology cases with an approximate split of two-thirds oncology and one-third hematology
• Treat patients with common cancer types including lung, breast, prostate, and colorectal, as well as other community-based oncology cases
• Oversee and supervise administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IVIG, IV iron, and non-chemotherapy injections within the clinic infusion setting
• Coordinate with radiation oncology through navigator support as needed
• Supervise port access procedures performed by RNs
• Utilize Nuance dictation system for clinical documentation
• Participate in tumor board meetings
• Collaborate with on-site NP and virtual hematologist as part of the multidisciplinary care team
• Maintain active Pennsylvania medical license or IMLC/LOQ
• Maintain Board Certification, with double board certification preferred
• Have completed fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology
• Comply with all credentialing, privileging, and health requirements including vaccines, physical, and fit testing
• Submit required credentialing documents within specified timelines, including Social Security Number, photo, PATCH results, and Child Abuse Search within 5 days of signing
