Job Title: OB Nurse
Location: Waimea, Hawaii
Schedule: 4:00PM – 4:00AM x 3
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $72 – $77/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a OB Nurse for a temporary assignment in Waimea, Hawaii. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a OB Nurse:
• Serve as Staff RN on a 5-bed OB Unit encompassing Antepartum, Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Nursery, and Outpatient Testing
• Provide care for Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum, High Risk (PIH, placenta abruption, prolapse cord, placenta previa, VBAC, GDM, PTL, PROM, etc.), and Laboring Patients
• Care for Observation and NST Patients
• Provide care for Well Babies, Phototherapy, and Special Care Nursery Babies
• Start adult and neonatal IVs and perform adult and neonatal Accu checks
• Perform PKU testing on newborns
• Provide resuscitation on a newborn if needed, including APGAR scoring, bulb suctioning, DeLee suctioning of a newborn, and assisting with circumcisions
• Assist anesthesia in administration of intrathecal or epidural for laboring patients
• Monitor PCA pumps, attend C-Sections, and provide care for the newborn
• Recover patients after C-Section or BTL
• Hang IV fluids and administer IVPB medications
• Administer and titrate Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Insulin drip
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate and communicate findings to the physician
• Monitor laboring patients on Cytotec, intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC), internal scalp electrode (ISE), amnioinfusion, and assist with external cephalic version (ECV)
• Operate and utilize equipment including Avalon fetal monitoring machine, PYXIS machine, Ohmeda Infant Warmer System, Neopuff, Oxygen Blender, Bilibed, Neoblue bed and overhead, OUR 365, SCD machine, Echoscreen, adult and neonatal crash cart, and vital signs machine
• Maintain paper-based charting in accordance with unit procedures
• Float to other departments as needed during decreases in census
• Work any assigned shifts, preferably nights
• Work 80 hours every 2 weeks without exception
• Work holidays as assigned including New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day
• Maintain valid BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE, and Fetal Monitoring (FM) certifications
• Possess a minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery and couplet care experience
