Job Title: Optometrist
Location: Oakland, California
Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM x 5
Term: 26-week assignment with the potential for extension.
Pay Rate: $156 – $168/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Optometrist for a temporary assignment in Oakland, California. These positions are 26-week locum tenens contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Optometrist:
• Provide outpatient pediatric optometry care in a hospital-based setting, seeing 12-14 patients per day with 30-minute appointments from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Conduct comprehensive eye exams for pediatric patients, including high-acuity and complex cases
• Perform strabismus and binocular vision examinations
• Conduct contact lens fittings and complex contact lens fittings for pediatric patients
• Care for patients of all cognitive abilities, including those on the autism spectrum
• Collaborate with and support multi-disciplinary teams including technicians, ophthalmologists, and other optometrists
• Co-manage pediatric patients alongside other pediatric specialties, including patients with seizures and facial abnormalities
• Utilize Epic EMR system for clinical documentation and charting
• Work with patients who have developmental delays and double vision (adult patients not mandatory)
• Coordinate with ophthalmic technicians who perform and run diagnostic imaging
• Maintain current BLS certification (AHA-approved)
• Maintain valid California state optometry license
• Comply with COVID-19 vaccination requirements, including booster (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Work a Monday through Friday schedule, 5 shifts per week, 8-hour shifts
