Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Cardiologist for a temporary assignment in Topeka, Kansas. These positions are 13-week locum tenens contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Cardiologist:
• Provide General Cardiology inpatient hospital coverage, approximately 12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday
• Participate in rotating call shifts overnight and rotating weekends as part of the General Cardiology call rotation
• Contribute as one of three general cardiologists providing daily hospital coverage (Monday through Friday)
• Perform inpatient cardiology consults and rounding on adult patients
• Manage general cardiovascular disease and refer to cardiovascular partners (e.g., Electrophysiology, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery) based on patient needs and diagnosis
• Assume approximately 10–15 consults on assigned primary call coverage days
• Manage a daily patient census of approximately 10–20 patients as part of a 50–60 patient panel shared among three cardiologists
• Collaborate with an experienced cardiovascular team including APPs, nursing staff, cardiac/general/vascular imaging staff, nuclear stress testing, cardiac advanced imaging (CT, MR), and specialty cardiology support
• Work alongside ancillary inpatient support teams including social work, case management, and pharmacy
• Utilize EPIC EMR system for clinical documentation
• Maintain Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Cardiovascular Disease
• Hold or obtain valid Kansas medical licensure and appropriate hospital privileges
• Provide a minimum of approximately 7 consecutive shifts or one week of coverage per month
• Integrate collaboratively with an established multidisciplinary cardiovascular team
