Job Title: PCU
Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Schedule: 8:00AM – 4:00PM x 5
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $55 – $60/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a PCU for a temporary assignment in Hilo, Hawaii. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a PCU:
• Must have an active State of Hawaii license by start of assignment; candidates not currently in possession must apply upon acceptance of offer
• Work in a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit, including 3 Step Down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 for Progressive Care and 1:3 for Step Down ICU
• Work scheduled 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation with no guaranteed hours and no on-call requirements
• Provide primary nursing care including telemetry monitoring and telemetry strip reading
• Perform fingerstick blood sugar testing
• Utilize Meditech charting system for documentation
• Operate Pyxis system for medication management
• Utilize BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitoring equipment
• Possess at least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year; Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
• ACLS preferred; current PALS preferred; NIHSS certification preferred
• Float to all acute units in-house, including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER as needed
• Adhere to dress code requirements by wearing scrubs
• Arrive the Thursday before the start date to attend an employee health appointment on Friday
