Job Title: ER MED-SURG
Location: Hebron, Nebraska
Schedule: 7:00PM – 7:00AM x 3
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $55 – $60/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a ER MED-SURG for a temporary assignment in Hebron, Nebraska. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a ER MED-SURG:
• Perform nursing care and services for patients including observing and recording signs and symptoms, administering sterile treatments, assisting with examinations, using and caring for special equipment, and assisting with patient rehabilitation according to medical and/or nursing plans
• Prepare, administer, and document oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications using barcode scanning in the electronic health system; observe IV insertion sites and rates of flow, and discontinue IVs as needed
• Assist in planning, providing, and evaluating patient care as a member of the nursing team
• Assist physicians, nurses, and others as required; responsible for total patient care when assigned across ER, Med/Surg, LDR, and Nursery settings
• Perform duties related to care and cleaning of rooms and equipment after use or patient discharge; prepare and sterilize patient supplies and maintain utility and service rooms
• Observe, record, and report to appropriate personnel the general and specific physical and mental conditions of patients, including signs and symptoms indicative of change
• Perform selected procedures and therapeutic treatments and provide nursing care in the Emergency Room following demonstration of competence
• Observe and provide care to obstetrical patients through stages of labor, delivery, and post-partum after demonstration of competence
• Observe and provide care of the newborn
• Participate in nursing care plans for total patient care in accordance with physician instructions and established standards, recognized nursing techniques, procedures, and policies
• Promote patient cooperation and assist in teaching patient self-care
• Study and evaluate trends and developments in nursing practices with consideration of their adaptability to specific patient needs
• Assume responsibility for accuracy of procedures and maintenance of high standards of nursing care; maintain accurate and complete records
• Record and transcribe patient orders from physicians
• Assist in training and orientation of new employees
• Participate in Quality Assurance committees, in-service programs, meetings, and educational workshops
• Maintain current CPR, ACLS, TNCC, NRP, and STABLE certifications
• Maintain current professional nursing license in accordance with state law
• Provide leadership in medical concerns in the absence of a physician
• Comply with HIPAA regulations by not discussing patient matters outside of the clinical setting
• Participate in all required compliance education and training programs
• Demonstrate formal greetings with patients, visitors, and staff
• Dress in a neat, clean uniform for patient care and maintain high personal hygiene standards
• Demonstrate respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence through a patient-centered care philosophy
