Job Title: PHARM
Location: Alturas, California
Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM x 5
Term: 8-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $78 – $84/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a PHARM for a temporary assignment in Alturas, California. These positions are 8-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a PHARM:
• Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals for patient care
• Reviews prescriptions issued by Physician or other authorized prescriber to ensure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed
• Directs pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals
• Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals if counseling offer is accepted
• Actively engages patients and clients with respect to customer service programs and program integrations offered by the pharmacy
• Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances and disposal of hazardous waste drugs
• Enters data such as patient name, prescribed medication and cost to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory
• Instructs interns and other pharmacy personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy and maintains correct pharmacist to technician and pharmacist to intern ratios per state/federal law
• Maintains awareness of third party Rx systems and resolves third party rejection problems promptly
• Reports prescription errors immediately and adheres to company policy regarding medication incidents
• Maintains awareness of loss prevention controls and procedures to identify and minimize profit loss
• Develops and maintains a good working relationship with physicians and other health care professionals
• Pursues training and development opportunities; keeps abreast of new items, changing laws, regulations, and new pharmacy-related programs through continuing education and reviewing pharmacy-related literature
• Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; maintains confidentiality
• Maximizes sales and controls expenses in the retail pharmacy
• Ensures currency and consistency of pharmacy policies
• Communicates changes effectively and deals with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
• Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; ensures daily housekeeping, cleanliness, and sanitation program as established within company guidelines
• Demonstrates professional behavior and maintains a positive working relationship with patients, visitors, and staff
• Performs all assigned tasks accurately and produces deliverable products on time with minimal direction
• Other duties may be assigned, which may include technician-related duties depending on available staff
