Job Title: Optometrist
Location: Houlton, Maine
Schedule: 7:00AM – 5:00PM x 4
Term: 26-week assignment with the potential for extension.
Pay Rate: $111 – $120/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Optometrist for a temporary assignment in Houlton, Maine. These positions are 26-week locum tenens contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Optometrist:
• Provide quality eye care and emergency treatment in an FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) clinic setting
• Examine eyes and visual systems, diagnose problems or impairments, and prescribe corrective lenses
• Provide treatment and may prescribe therapeutic drugs to treat specific eye conditions
• See an average of 16 patients per day in a high-volume environment serving all walks of life
• Work a 4-day work week, Tuesday through Friday, 7:30am–6:00pm with a 30-minute lunch
• Work between two campuses (South Patten on Tuesdays and Houlton on Wednesday–Friday); must be comfortable rotating between both locations
• Utilize Wednesday afternoons (4:00pm–6:00pm) for administrative time at the Houlton campus
• Perform and be proficient in own computer charting using EMR systems; Athena experience preferred but not required
• Work collaboratively with support staff including 1 Optometric Technician and 1 Optician
• Maintain Board Certification by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry
• Hold or be in process of obtaining a valid state optometry license
• Be a graduate of an approved school of optometry
• Maintain a clean criminal and DHHS background
• Adhere to clinic holiday closures and scheduling policies
