Job Title: L&D
Location: State College, Pennsylvania
Schedule: 7:00AM – 7:00PM x 3
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $59 – $63/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a L&D for a temporary assignment in State College, Pennsylvania. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a L&D:
• Assess childbearing women (adolescence to middle adulthood), neonates, and family needs and develop individualized plans of care
• Implement nursing interventions and evaluate nursing care based on patient outcomes
• Perform initial assessment and stabilization of the neonate
• Assess patient and family developmental level, health status, and health history including sexual and reproductive history and identified learning needs
• Develop a plan of care based on identified physical and learning needs
• Teach self-care and/or care of the newborn to patients and families
• Consider data relating to role relationships and interaction patterns of families when developing a plan of care
• Promote understanding of the influence of family relationships on health status
• Provide support and collaborate with other health care disciplines in the treatment and referrals of families at risk
• Facilitate interaction between family members to promote the bonding process
• Promote an environment free of hazards to reproduction, growth and development, wellness, and recovery from illness
• Assist patients and families in understanding and coping with women’s health issues and childbirth
• Maintain current Pennsylvania RN licensure
• Maintain current BLS certification per American Heart Association Healthcare Provider standards (renewed every two years)
• Maintain current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (renewed every two years)
• Maintain current ACLS certification per American Heart Association Healthcare Provider standards (renewed every two years)
• Utilize Epic charting system for documentation
• Function effectively as a team member and serve as a liaison between patient and staff
• Demonstrate strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills in a highly professional manner
• Maintain a high level of mental and emotional tolerance when dealing with ill patients, families, and co-workers
• Maintain awareness of professional issues and update knowledge and clinical skills on an ongoing basis
• Perform related and miscellaneous duties as assigned
