Job Title: Surgical Nurse Practitioner (SNP)
Location: Potsdam, New York
Schedule: 7:00AM – 5:00PM x 4
Term: 26-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $127 – $136/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Surgical Nurse Practitioner (SNP) for a locum tenens assignment in Potsdam, New York. These positions are 26-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Surgical Nurse Practitioner (SNP):
• Provide comprehensive care to hospitalized patients, working closely with physicians and healthcare teams to manage patient treatment and ensure quality care
• Perform robotic-assisted surgical procedures (robotics experience required)
• Cauterize wounds and vessels
• Pack sponges in body during surgical procedures
• Position patients to maintain circulation and access for the surgeon
• Place clamps and sutures
• Close skin with adhesives, sutures, or staples
• Apply direct pressure on veins and tissue
• Perform or aid in patient suction, drainage, and irrigation
• Perform hemostasis to stop excess bleeding and blood flow
• Immobilize patients on the operating table
• Perform duties in a combination of Surgical First Assist Operating Room time and Surgical Floor coverage
• Assist with rounding and progress notes on the Medical Surgical Floor
• Manage orders, discharges, and consults
• Work primarily with General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic patients
• Maintain current AHA BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications
• Maintain valid NY State License
• Maintain a minimum of 2 years of recent experience
• Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
• Utilize EPIC charting system for documentation
• Adhere to dress code policies including business casual attire, closed-toe and closed-heel footwear, natural-looking hair, no artificial nail enhancements, and conservative jewelry
• Refrain from cell phone use during shifts; leave personal devices in locker
• Provide a minimum of 2 hours notice for call-ins and notify supervisor
• Obtain pre-approval for any overtime
• Take required 30-minute lunch breaks
• Clock in and out at shift start and end
• Must be Board Certified
• Ensure work history is up to date with no gaps of 30 or more days
• Provide a physician statement if any malpractice history is involved, whether dismissed or not
• Remain within a 20-minute radius of the care facility while on call and not leave the state or country during on-call periods
