Schedule: 7:00PM – 7:00AM x 3
Term: 26-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $156 – $168/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Physician Assistant (PA) for a temporary assignment in Oakland, California. These positions are 26-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Physician Assistant (PA):
• Serve as a member of the care team, taking primary responsibility for the safe delivery of care for inpatient newborns and infants in a Level IV NICU setting • Provide care exclusively within the 58-bed Level IV Newborn ICU for patients from birth to 1 year of age • Work full-time, 3×12-hour shifts per week, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays • Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, APP colleagues, and other administrative staff to deliver comprehensive patient care • Care for neonatal patients with complex, life-threatening conditions including heart, lung, and gastrointestinal conditions requiring surgical intervention • May be cross-trained to cover the newborn nursery as needed • Manage patients pre- and immediately post-ECMO as appropriate (ECMO patients actively on ECMO are covered by the NICU fellow) • Meet productivity expectations as defined by the Division Chief • Perform all patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated within scope of practice • Utilize EPIC EMR system for clinical documentation • Maintain board certification in Neonatal specialty • Maintain valid California state license • Maintain current DEA registration with CA address (Schedule 2/2N required) • Maintain current BLS and NRP certifications (all certifications must be AHA) • If NP, must hold Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC) certification • If PA, must hold a Master’s in PA Studies or Master’s in Medical Science • Maintain a minimum of 2-3 years of neonatal experience in Level III/IV NICUs • Comply with COVID-19 vaccine and booster requirements (medical/religious exemptions only) • Complete CMS Medicare and Medicaid enrollment submission through the credentialing process by the first clinical day
