Job Title: ER MED-SURG
Location: Grand Forks, North Dakota
Schedule: 7:00PM – 7:00AM x 3
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $65 – $70/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a ER MED-SURG for a temporary assignment in Grand Forks, North Dakota. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a ER MED-SURG:
• Provide direct nursing care in the Emergency Department in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols
• Perform daily rounds on all patients to assure quality customer service and coordinate any unmet requirements
• Develop a plan of care based on assessment reflecting the patient’s physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs
• Assess patient conditions and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions including discharge planning
• Assess, intervene, and reassess patient self-reported symptoms of pain promptly and take appropriate action per standard operating procedure
• Identify early warning signs of changes in patient condition and respond appropriately to deteriorating patients, including contacting responsible clinicians as indicated
• Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patient conditions
• Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to appropriate multidisciplinary team members and accurately document those observations
• Ensure timely interventions or referrals are made promptly
• Complete and submit all incident reports (patient, visitor, staff) prior to the completion of each shift
• Establish and maintain communication with patients and significant individuals, utilizing educational opportunities as appropriate
• Begin discharge planning, education, and counseling as early as possible to optimize patient and family understanding
• Evaluate and document per standard operating procedure
• Assign or delegate nursing interventions within scope of practice to appropriately skilled personnel
• Maintain current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
• Maintain valid Registered Nurse licensure through the North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON) or Compact State Agreement
• Work every other weekend and adhere to holidays per unit schedule
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department
