Job Title: Lab Tech
Location: Bethel, Alaska
Schedule: 7:00AM – 3:00PM x 5
Term: 26-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $55 – $60/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Lab Tech for a temporary assignment in Bethel, Alaska. These positions are 26-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Lab Tech:
• Perform laboratory tests under the direction of the laboratory manager
• Execute quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of results
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and patients regarding laboratory findings
• Apply knowledge of clinical laboratory instrumentation in daily operations
• Function as a laboratory generalist across multiple testing areas
• Work independently and provide direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants
• Maintain board eligibility by NCA or ASCP and complete board certification within one year of employment
• Obtain and maintain certification as MT by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or CLS by National Accrediting Agency (NCA) within one year of employment
• Apply one to three years of related or progressively more responsible experience in microbiology
• Utilize a Bachelors degree in Microbiology or a related field in the performance of laboratory duties
• Adhere to all facility policies and procedures for laboratory operations and patient care delivery
• Comply with immunization requirements including Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, T-Dap, and Polio
• Maintain current and valid professional licensure and certifications
• Complete all required compliance documentation, background checks, and screenings prior to start
