Location: Alturas, California
Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM x 5
Term: 9-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $72 – $77/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a OT for a temporary assignment in Alturas, California. These positions are 9-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a OT:
• Direct physical therapy services under the guidance of the Director of Physical Therapy
• Coordinate and supervise the operation of the physical therapy department
• Administer physical agents prescribed by a referring physician
• Maintain performance improvement activities within the department and participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities
• Ensure competency of all departmental personnel
• Assist in formulating the budget and evaluate department performance versus budget, taking appropriate action to remain within budget guidelines
• Develop and implement a system for reviewing department charges, ensuring patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis
• Maintain efficient and effective department operations while ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols
• Demonstrate professional behavior at all times, both on duty and as a representative outside of normal work hours
• Maintain positive working relationships with patients, visitors, and facility staff
• Compile and organize data using Microsoft Office Applications and make appropriate recommendations or conclusions based on data obtained
• Maintain organized records and deliver records immediately upon request
• Communicate appropriately, respectfully, and clearly to directors, managers, and coworkers
• Perform all assigned tasks accurately
• Observe and evaluate treatment effects and recommend changes to the physician if needed
• Perform appropriate assessments of all patients related to therapy requested, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations
• Assess patient pain interfering with optimal function or participation in rehabilitation and make appropriate physician contact for intervention
• Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors
• Formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning, including family members as appropriate
• Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs
• Function as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers
• Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly, maintaining department cleanliness and safety
• Comply with ongoing departmental inspections of equipment and physical space and make recommendations regarding equipment utilization and needs
• Interact professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of a plan of care
• Coordinate and direct patient care to ensure patient needs are met and policies are followed
• Consult other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities
• Ensure documentation meets current standards and policies
• Train personnel utilizing on-the-job training for nursing, other hospital staff, and departmental staff
• Study current trends and developments in rehabilitative medicine through current literature and professional societies
• Maintain standards of professional society procedures and ethical behavior
• Respond calmly and positively during crisis situations (e.g., Code Blue)
• Adhere to dress code; maintain a neat and professional appearance
• Complete annual education requirements and maintain regulatory requirements
• Maintain and ensure patient confidentiality at all times
• Wear identification badge while on duty
• Report to work on time and as scheduled, completing work within designated time
• Attend all meetings as appropriate, including committee, CQI, and management meetings
• Resolve personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety, and infection control
• Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
• Perform other duties as assigned
