Job Title: PHARM
Location: Alturas, California
Schedule: 7:00AM – 3:00PM x 5
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $68 – $74/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a PHARM for a temporary assignment in Alturas, California. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a PHARM:
• Demonstrate professional behavior at all times, both on duty and as a representative outside of normal work hours
• Maintain positive working relationships with patients, visitors, and facility staff; show respect to managers and supervisors
• Demonstrate organizational ability and effective time management
• Produce deliverable products on time and within budget with minimal direction
• Review all areas of pharmaceutical services including the procurement, distribution, storage, and administration of drugs by appropriate staff
• Review the operation of all drug distribution systems to ensure efficient and effective operation within the framework of the pharmacy license; recommend solutions to operational problems
• Provide drug information to other healthcare professionals through written materials, references, or telephone conferences
• Maintain the Pharmacy Services Policy and Procedure Manual to comply with changes in law and accreditation standards
• Ensure pharmacy services are in compliance with all State and Federal regulations regarding pharmaceutical services
• Help realize cost savings through correct purchasing procedures utilizing a drug formulary program
• Assist with pharmacy licensure issues as needed
• Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge of the hospital pharmacy
• Recommend methods of accountability and implementation of pharmaceutical services, policies, and procedures to the Pharmaceutical Services Director
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and resident information in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Review all inpatient medication orders for appropriateness and correctness to ensure safe and effective use of medications
• Identify and verify all patients’ home medications prior to use in the facility
• Maintain all pharmaceuticals, specialty boxes, and crash carts across the facility (Crash carts, STEMI kit, OB kit, Clinic kit, etc.)
• Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs
• Maintain pharmacy and Omnicell inventory
• Resolve any drug discrepancies discovered within an appropriate time window
• Maintain records of procurement, dispensing, and destruction of pharmaceuticals in the hospital and skilled nursing facility, including scheduled substances as required by CA pharmacy law
• Maintain ordering, billing, and invoice records for acquisition and dispensing of pharmaceuticals to all departments
• Complete administrative tasks related to record keeping, compliance, and license maintenance on time
• Provide weekend coverage of retail pharmacy for emergency medication dispensing during assigned shift
• Serve as the on-call pharmacist after hours on days of assigned shift
• Perform other duties as assigned
