Job Title: SLP
Location: Tuba City, Arizona
Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM x 5
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $65 – $70/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a SLP for a temporary assignment in Tuba City, Arizona. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a SLP:
• Provide quality speech and/or language therapy services to a predominantly Native American population for the rehabilitation of patients with various developmental, cognitive, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities
• Plan and administer medically based speech therapy for inpatient and outpatient populations (regular work week; weekend services not currently available)
• Assess and interpret evaluations and test results for patients ranging in age from birth through geriatric and document findings in the electronic health record
• Determine speech therapy treatment plans by physician referral or in consultation with physicians, setting realistic treatment goals based on the patient’s physical and mental abilities, needs, evaluation findings, and/or diagnosis
• Recommend and implement adjustments and modifications to therapy plans based on patient progress
• Document results of patient assessments, treatment, follow-up, and termination of services in patient records
• Select and construct therapies according to the patient’s goals and needs
• Instruct patients, families, and staff in appropriate speech-language procedures, therapies, or home programs to allow carry-over of therapeutic remediation and goals in daily activities
• Provide specialty services including but not limited to swallowing evaluation, Videofluoroscopy (VFSS) or Modified Barium Swallowing (MBS), Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), cognitive treatment, voice treatment, pediatric speech/language therapy treatment, and pediatric feeding evaluation
• Provide specialty clinics including but not limited to Geriatric clinic and Assistive Technology/adaptive equipment evaluation and treatment
• Assist in the direction and development of the speech therapy service, including continued quality improvement, risk management, and safety initiatives
• Comply with federal and state speech therapy certification requirements and follow applicable policies and procedures
• Comply with the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and Scope of Practice as set forth by ASHA
• Provide training and in-services for student and staff education
• Consult with the Physical Rehabilitation team and other healthcare workers including physicians, nurses, and social workers
• Maintain Medical Staff Credentialing Core Privileges
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association
• Maintain valid, current, full, and unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology licensure
• Maintain certification of clinical competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA
• Perform other duties as assigned
