Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a RRT for a permanent assignment in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Responsibilities for a RRT:
• Recognize signs and symptoms of an emergency and readily identify how to best support patients and families
• Focus on patient safety and quality when applying appropriate respiratory interventions
• Review existing data, collect additional data, and recommend obtaining data to evaluate the respiratory status of patients
• Develop, implement, and modify respiratory care treatment plans based on assessment of the cardiorespiratory system, department policy and procedure, physician-approved respiratory care protocols, clinical pathways, and provider orders
• Initiate and conduct prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures such as administering medical gases, humidification and aerosols, aerosol medications, postural drainage, bronchopulmonary hygiene, pulmonary function testing, hemodynamic monitoring, and other physiologic monitoring
• Collect specimens of blood and other diagnostic specimens
• Manage mechanical ventilator support and other means of life support
• Maintain artificial and natural airways and initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other emergency procedures
• Perform invasive and non-invasive procedures following established standards
• Document necessary information in the patient’s medical record and communicate information to members of the health care team
• Demonstrate the ability to perform complex procedures and critical thinking skills required to serve critical patients
• Obtain, assemble, calibrate, and check necessary equipment and use problem solving to identify and correct malfunctions of respiratory care equipment
• Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills to work productively with patients, families, providers, and co-workers
• Serve patients with regard to age specific and cultural diversity needs
• Participate in the orientation, mentorship, and education of personnel and students
• Provide formal and informal teaching and learning opportunities to assist personnel in achieving and maintaining competence necessary for safe and effective practice
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards of the profession
• Maintain 100% of all required and mandatory education, competencies, certifications, and licensure specific to assigned areas
• Maintain current BLS Certification within 60 days of hire or transfer
• Maintain valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) licensure and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
