Job Title: Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA)
Location: Clifton Springs, New York
Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM x 5
Term: 26-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $96 – $103/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA) for a locum tenens assignment in Clifton Springs, New York. These positions are 26-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA):
• Conduct pre-operative evaluations and optimization for upcoming surgical patients
• Review history and physical (H&P) and all relevant patient information prior to appointments
• Utilize optimization protocols and resources to prepare patients for surgery
• Perform thorough chart review and data collection for each patient
• Identify and make appropriate referrals as needed based on patient assessment findings
• Collaborate closely with the Surgery and Anesthesia team
• Provide pre-operative assessment for patients across multiple surgical specialties, including Orthopedics, General Surgery, and Urology
• Conduct outpatient, pre-operative visits in an ambulatory office-type setting (patients are not having surgery the same day)
• See approximately 8–9 patients per day with first patient at 8:00 AM and last patient at 3:00 PM
• Document patient encounters and assessments using the Epic charting system
• Maintain active BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Maintain active New York state licensure
• Maintain Board Certification as required
• Ensure work history is current with no gaps of 30 or more days
• Provide malpractice history disclosure with physician statement if applicable
