Job Title: Infusion
Location: Sitka, Alaska
Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM x 5
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $107 – $116/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Infusion for a temporary assignment in Sitka, Alaska. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a Infusion:
• Provide oversight for the overall financial performance of assigned departments, including setting annual budgets and practicing cost-effective utilization of staff and resources
• Coordinate Nursing Service orientation of new staff, monitor skills, and provide guidance for new skill development
• Select and evaluate the performance of preceptors for new employees
• Make patient care assignments based on care requirements, complexity of total assignment, and qualifications of personnel
• Review and recommend changes in staffing standards based on patient classification and staff utilization studies
• Revise, implement, and administer nursing services and department-specific policies, procedures, and standards
• Collaborate with other healthcare providers in arranging and conducting patient care conferences
• Facilitate and participate in quality improvement activities to monitor compliance with high standards of patient care
• Assist in training and career development of staff, partnering with Education and Human Resources departments
• Hold individuals accountable for completion of all education, training, and competency validation by due dates
• Update job descriptions and performance standards as required; evaluate staff performance and recommend awards or disciplinary actions
• Communicate potential administrative concerns and unresolved employee or patient issues to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
• Oversee planning, preparation, and approval of staffing schedules; approve employee leave and delegate assignments appropriately
• Coordinate Nursing Service activities with other areas, departments, and divisions
• Set and approve agendas for department staff meetings and establish annual departmental goals
• Oversee supply and equipment ordering for the department
• Identify departmental needs for personnel, equipment, supplies, and training for program planning
• Implement regulatory agency standards (Joint Commission, CMS, etc.) and ensure compliance with payers and regulatory requirements
• Assume the role of Acting Chief Nursing Officer in the absence of the CNO and coordinate overall Nursing Service activities as needed
• Fulfill assignments delegated by the CNO during hospital emergency events; act rapidly and effectively in any emergency
• Attend and participate in at least 80% of Nurse Executive Committee meetings
• Participate in Nursing Service goal setting and promote organizational standards of excellence
• Follow all duties and responsibilities as described in the Registered Nurse position description for each individual unit
• Step into patient care roles as required by changing care needs of assigned departments
• Perform duties independently, exercising professional judgment in determining the correct course of action
• Remain calm and make sound judgments in emergency and high-stress situations
• Address performance, behavioral, or quality of care issues at the time they are identified and escalate as needed
• Maintain current required certifications including ACLS; PALS and NRP preferred
• Require flu vaccine compliance
• Administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments utilizing a minimum of 2 years of related experience
