Job Title: ICU/CCU

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a ICU/CCU for a permanent assignment in Juneau, Alaska.
Responsibilities for a ICU/CCU:
• Perform initial triage and assessments of patients who present for urgent care services
• Provide telephone services including assessment and advice of self-care and/or appropriate care options
• Conduct assessments including history of present illness, vital sign measurements, gathering of Government Performance Results Act data, immunization status, and preventative health needs
• Take direction from provider through written, verbal, and/or standing orders
• Administer therapeutic measures including medication (oral, topical, IM, SQ, Intradermal, and IV push and infusion) and operation and monitoring of specialized equipment
• Initiate IV access, maintain site, monitor patient, and discontinue IV therapy
• Add secondary IV therapies, which may require mixing of concentrated medication solutions or powders
• Document assessments, observations, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures, health counseling, and education provided to patients either in person or by phone
• Evaluate and document patient comprehension of education provided
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment including adequate supplies and upkeep of stock and equipment
• Report and remove defective or missing equipment and safety hazards immediately
• Adhere to infection control policies and procedures
• Maintain annual competencies including safety and infection control requirements
• Facilitate the coordination of patient referrals and track the progress of referrals and outcomes of care
• Provide periodic status reports to providers on outstanding referrals
• Serve as the primary link for other case managers and referral coordinators in care coordination for patients
• Proactively identify delays and obstacles to care and work to remedy individual cases and improve processes
• Contact patients for next day follow-up calls and handle each situation appropriately
• Work collaboratively by building rapport with team members within departments and across the organization
• Participate in department and clinic team improvement efforts
• Participate in continued development of the clinical team
• Respond to emergency situations as part of the triage role
• May serve as vaccine coordinator or secondary vaccine coordinator for the clinic
• Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects deemed necessary to provide comprehensive health services
• Work a rotating schedule of 40 hours per week including days and weekends
