Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a OR for a permanent assignment in Bethel, Alaska.
Responsibilities for a OR:
• Plan, coordinate, organize, and direct the operations and staff (clinical and non-clinical) of the Surgical Services Department, including the Operating Room, Outpatient Surgical Services, Anesthesia, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit
• Evaluate the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in assigned departments
• Coordinate (or supervise coordination of) visiting specialists to maintain a workable schedule in the OR
• Manage fiscal, material, and human resources of the department
• Participate in the development and implementation of departmental and hospital policies and procedures
• Maintain interdepartmental and intradepartmental communication
• Articulate and enforce standards for quality and safe patient care
• Develop and implement innovative systems and processes that improve staff and patient quality and safety
• Demonstrate achievable and measurable results and develop action plans for improvement
• Initiate, monitor, and enforce regulatory requirements
• Hold self and others accountable to policy, standards, and commitments and provide timely follow-through on questions and concerns
• Remain current on new trends and best practices and incorporate them into Surgical Services
• Ensure development of Surgical Services initiatives to improve patient experience and family-centered care
• Develop and implement clinical outcome measures for quality improvement, cost and complication reduction, and the implementation of evidence-based practice
• Maintain open communication with department staff to create a Culture of Safety and engage staff in Continuous Quality Improvement
• Interpret, implement, and monitor TJC, state, and federal regulations pertaining to department functions
• Ensure departmental compliance with TJC standards as well as requirements set by state and federal regulatory bodies
• Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care
• Supervise OR department staff including nurses, anesthesia staff, pre-op providers, and OR support staff
• Maintain knowledge of AORN Guidelines and Perioperative Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice
• Maintain current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in good standing
• Maintain current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Attain Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) certification within 6 months
• Utilize electronic health record systems, with preference for Cerner
• Manage budgets, reimbursements, coding, claims processing, and fiscal responsibilities
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Chief Nurse Executive
